How I afford my lifestyle
When you ask about my pricing and hear it, you are immediately horrified, right? I get that. I, too was horrified by the price of my functional medicine practitioner too! After throwing down $600 for a consult and blood test—I handed over my credit card and charged another $4200. You see, he asked me a question that played into how I was feeling at the time—essentially on a scale of 1 to 10, how willing are you to do what it takes for your health? I wrote “10”—I had a problem and I wanted a solution and no matter how much the solution was—I was willing to do it. Bc, if I can keep working, I can pay that credit card—if I can’t work, I’m in BIG trouble! But I also don’t do a lot of things for myself either—I don’t get manicures or pedicures, I don’t get my hair cut or colored, I don’t get massages, I don’t see a chiropractor, I don’t eat out a lot, I drink my mycotoxin free coffee at home, I don’t drive a fancy car (I had a BMW X5 once—never again!), I don’t have a huge house in a gated community…and I haven’t had a real vacation in years. I’m not complaining, in the grand scheme of things, it’s small sacrifices to ensure the health of me and my family so that I can be around to watch my children have children of their own and make more memories to carry with me till my last breath.
Now, my pricing isn’t as much as his—not because it can’t be—bc I could certainly be at that price point to—but I choose NOT to—the protocol he had me on is the same one I recommend to my clients—and I have done TWICE already to date (and I am working really hard to NOT have to do again bc I dislike pills very much!) The clients I have come to me, aren’t “rich” or anything—they are average people, with average jobs and they are sick and tired of being sick and tired—they wanted something to change so they made the decision to invest in themselves.
Now for me… I don’t have health insurance—at all! No insurance premiums or copays or coinsurance or prescriptions to buy—NADA! So I can take the money I would have spent on health insurance and use it for my functional medicine testing and my supplements. And I don’t test all the time and I don’t eat my supplements like food—they are to supplement my diet….but I also don’t NEED them everyday, all the time either.
I do what I do so I can keep working…if I keep my body well now, I won’t have limited income. This business isn’t my primary job either—I’m a massage therapist first and then an integrative health practitioner—so I need to have a healthy body to do the physical work of massage. And even though my children have all the healthcare insurance—I’m keeping them from having to depend on it—because that system doesn’t keep you healthy. It’s the legacy I hope to leave behind.
So my prices may seem outrageous but they certainly could be worse. One Functional Medicine guy I follow charges $15,000—I also watched a Tik Tok where a young lady took out a $15,000 loan to PAY for a functional medicine practitioner—only to NOT get better! (Though I’m unsure if she did everything to a “T” or not) Another person charges $250 for a 30 min consult and I think that would come with a grocery list of supplements to buy—just based off of symptoms, I’m sure. A client I have right now just spent thousands of dollars to see a functional medicine practitioner and got a bunch of supplements, only to turn around and come to me. (Maybe bc I don’t ask for all the money up front?)
So no, my service isn’t “for the rich”… it’s for everyday people—who want changes—like the changes I had when I did the same thing…
Because, who benefits from you (financially), If. You. Get. Better? Definitely won’t be me—and that’s why you get the tools you need—so you don’t come back! Cause that’s how I roll, ya’ll!!
